Uganda has reinforced its position as one of Africa’s most attractive travel destinations after receiving the prestigious Best Exquisite Destination award during the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2026 held in India. The recognition places Uganda among the leading global tourism hotspots and highlights the country’s growing influence in international travel markets, particularly across Asia.

The Outbound Travel Mart is one of Asia’s largest tourism exhibitions, attracting thousands of travel agents, tour operators, media representatives, and industry investors from around the world.

Uganda’s presence at the event provided an important opportunity to showcase its unique blend of wildlife, adventure, cultural heritage, and natural beauty. Key attractions promoted included mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the scenic landscapes surrounding the Rwenzori Mountains, the source of the River Nile, and the country’s diverse national parks rich in wildlife.

Tourism stakeholders used the platform to emphasize Uganda’s commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism practices. Conservation initiatives, community-based tourism programs, and eco-friendly travel experiences were highlighted as part of the country’s long-term strategy to protect natural resources while supporting local economies. Officials also promoted Uganda as a year-round destination offering activities such as birdwatching, safari experiences, cultural tours, and adventure sports.

The award is expected to enhance Uganda’s global visibility and strengthen confidence among international travelers and tour operators. Industry leaders believe the recognition will contribute to increased tourist arrivals, encourage investment in hospitality infrastructure, and open new partnerships within emerging markets. In particular, Uganda aims to expand its reach within Asia, where demand for authentic African travel experiences continues to grow.

Tourism authorities noted that international accolades play a key role in positioning Uganda as a competitive destination on the global stage. As the country continues to invest in marketing campaigns, infrastructure improvements, and product diversification, the award serves as both recognition of past efforts and motivation for continued growth in the tourism sector.
