Uganda the “Pearl of Africa” is renowned for its incredible biodiversity of wildlife and stunning landscapes making it a prime destination for safari enthusiasts.

From the iconic savannahs of Murchison Falls National Park to the misty rain forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda’s safari parks and reserves offer a diverse range of experiences for travelers seeking adventure and wildlife encounters.

One of Uganda’s most renowned safari destinations is Murchison Falls National Park located in the northwestern part of the country in Masindi, Kiryandongo, Nwoya and Buliisa districts. This savannah park covers over 3,840 square kilometers and it is a home to the big 5 including elephants, leopards, lions, buffalos, enroute rhinos and other wildlife species include hippos, giraffes among others.

On this safari, upon your arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you can be picked up by an experienced representative from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then transfer you to Mabamba swamp for a shoebill search and later check in Protea Hotel or any other accommodation facility around Entebbe to have something to eat and having some rest. An optional way, our driver can also drop you to your booked hotel where you will spend your whole at relaxation while preparing for the next day’s journey.

The next day you will wake up in a cool environment of the Entebbe city, have breakfast and later meet your driver for a brief discussion about the journey before heading to Murchison Falls National Park. On your way to Murchison Falls National Park, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking and the experience cost $50 per person. After getting up close to the rhinos, you can take some photographs and videos for remembrance and later proceed to Masindi town where you will have an enroute lunch from Masindi hotel one of the historical hotels in Masindi district.

Upon your arrival in Murchison Falls National Park, you will visit the top of falls where you may get a chance of sight-seeing the lush vegetation of the Karuma wildlife reserve and also its breathtaking views. The sounds from the falls really show the liveliness of the nature. You can as well take some photos of the magnificent falls to keep memories. Depending on time, you can as well proceed to Karuma town where you can enjoy a road trip while learning about the culture of local people leaving in Karuma area. Later check in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options include Pakuba Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge, Baker’s Lodge, Budongo Ecolodge, Twiga Safari Lodge, Murchison River Lodge, Nile Safari Lodge, Chobe Safari Lodge and many others.

The next morning after having breakfast, you will head for a game drive where you will view different wildlife species such as herds of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalos and bee-eater among others. After the game drive, return to the lodge for refreshment, lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon go for a boat ride along Nile River.  While on a boat cruise along the Nile you will spot a number of animals such as crocodiles, hippos and also buffaloes as they are from drinking water at the river bank. Return you lodge for dinner and sleepover.

The next morning after having breakfast, be transferred to Kibale National Park with your packed lunch via Hoima to Fort portal passing through traditional homesteads and farms along the Albertine rift escarpments which may give you an opportunity of seeing more wildlife animals such as red and blue duikers, bushbucks, sitatungas, bushpigs, giant forest hogs, common warthogs, African buffalo among others. You may also get a chance of sight seeing the mountains of the moon but from far. On arrival to Kibale National Park, check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options include Kyaninga lodge, Mountain of the Moon Hotel, Ndali Lodge, Papaya Lake Lodge, Primates Lodge, Isunga Lodge, Kibale Forest Camp and many more.

The next morning, have breakfast and then proceed to park’s headquarters for briefing on rules and guidelines of conducting chimpanzees in their natural habitat. After being grouped into groups of 6 members and when the allocation of the families is done, then enter the jungle to start searching for chimpanzees and this may take about 3 – 4 hours to find these creatures. After finding them, you will be allowed 1 hour of staying together with them in the natural habitat while watching them feeding the young ones and you can also take some photos and videos for remembrance.

Apart from chimpanzees, you may also get a chance of seeing other wildlife and primates like bush pig, elephants, blue monkeys, baboons among others, bird species and ever green savannah vegetation of Kibale National Park. Return back to the lodge for lunch and in the evening go for a guided nature walk in the Bigodi wetland sanctuary which is full of a variety of butterflies, birds and insects. After the Bigodi Walk, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

The next day after having breakfast, be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha sector where you may be lucky to see the rare climbing lions in the tree trucks. Apart from lions, you will also spot some few animals such as buffaloes, water buck, and Uganda Kobs among others. Check-in at your booked lodge for lunch and later in evening go for a boat ride at Kazinga channel where you will see the hippos and crocodiles plus some bird species. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and sleepover. Accommodation options include Mweya Safari Lodge, Buffalo Safari Lodge, Elephant Plains Lodge, Enganzi Game Lodge, Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge, Ishasha Wilderness Camp among others.

Wake up, take breakfast and go for a game drive in kasenyi plains with your packed lunch. Early game drives are so interesting because you can find when the animals are still sun bathing when they have not yet set off for hunting. On a game drive, you can see animals such as elephants, lions, leopards and some bird species. After the game drive, go for a nature walk.  While on a guided nature walk, you can be able to encounter the animals at a close range while on foot. One of the most popular guided nature walking tours is to Maramagambo bat caves. Upon the completion of the nature walk, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

The following day go for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura wildlife reserve. The trek starts with a briefing at the headquarters. After the trekking experience, trek back to the headquarters to receive your chimpanzee trekking certificates and spend your evening at lodge relaxing as you are waiting for dinner.

In the morning, embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector and if lucky you will see the rare climbing lions in the fig trees. Lunch at Ishasha Pride Lodge and after continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  Upon arrival, check in at your booked lodge to keep your luggage, relax and then go to Batwa village. The Batwa people will share their past stories with you on how they lived, hunted, cooked and also on how they used plants for both food and medicine. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options include Buhoma lodge, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Lake Kitandara Camp, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, Bweza Gorilla Lodge, Chameleon Hill lodge and many more.

The next morning, will be for gorilla trekking and you will start it with a briefing at the headquarters where they will group you in groups of 8 people.  After briefing, you will enter into the jungle with an experienced guide. During hiking you will come across some primates like monkeys and also some bird species.

Finally, when you find a gorilla family allocated to you, you will spend about 1 hour in the forest while watching these creatures as they eat leaves and playing with each other and also take some photography to create unforgettable moments. The experience will give you a special moment you will never forget in your life. After a long day of trekking, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

In the morning, woke up to the sound of birds singing outside the window. It was a beautiful start to another day of adventure.

After breakfast, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. Lake Bunyonyi is a big lake surrounded by green hills and its water is clear and calm whereas perfect for swimming and boat riding. You can take a boat ride on the lake and explore some small islands such as the Akampene island where unmarried pregnant girls were left to die of hunger taking it as an example to other young girls. Each island is like a little paradise with sandy beaches and lush vegetation.

You can decide to go for swimming since Lake Bunyonyi water is cool and good for swimming. After a long day of swimming and boat riding, you can check-in at a charming Arcadia lodge for dinner and sleepover. The lodge has cozy cottages with beautiful views of the lake. The staff at the lodge is very friendly and welcoming.

The following or last day can be for transferring you back to Kampala with a stopover at equator where you can have your lunch enroute and also some refreshments. Here you can take some photographs and also videos for memories and later proceed to Entebbe in order to catch up with the flight and that will be the end of your safari.

As your safari journey through Uganda come to an end, you will be left with memories that will last for a lifetime. From the vibrant streets of Kampala to the untamed wilderness of Bwindi, each destination offers its own unique blend of adventure, discovery and wonder.
