Cranes Qualifies to AFCON for the 8th Times

Uganda Crane couldn’t wait for the one point needed from South African match which turned that South Africa defeated the Cranes. Rather the South Sudan defeated Congo Brazzaville 3-2 at Juba Stadium, confirmed the Cranes qualification for their 8th times to the Afcon.

Before the last two matches for Cranes of South Africa at Namboole Stadium and the away match with Congo Brazzaville which the cranes lost and won respectively, they had already qualified for the 2025 Afcon in Morroco.

The Uganda’s men football team as named Uganda cranes are back to Afcon their 8th time, as they finished 2nd in their Group where they were placed with South Africa, South Sudan and Congo Brazzaville, and in the group South Africa finished on top 13, and Uganda 11.

Uganda first qualified for the Afcon in year of independence 1962, and this time has top the either times in the continental top competitions. The other times qualified include 1968, 1972, 1974, 1978, and then it took 39years for Uganda to qualify again in 2017, 2019, and finally 2025 which next.

The country in 1978 set a competitive participation going up to the final where Uganda lost to Ghana by 2-0.
