Jacob Kiplomo sets a new half marathon world record.

Jacob Kiplimo stood to set a new half marathon record in the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon on Sunday 11th November 2021. The 20years Ugandan long-distance runner broke the prevailed record of Kenyan Kibiwott Kandie just by a second. Kiplimo becomes the new world record holder for the men’s half marathon, after running 15km in the ever shortest time of 57minutes and 31 seconds. In the race, Ugandan Kiplomo came faster than two Ethiopians, Esa Huseyidin Mohamed and Gerba Beyata Dibaba who occupied the second and third positions respectively. Esa Huseyid Mohamed comes after Kiplimo in the 59 minutes 39 seconds. And in this race, nine men managed the pace to tape the finishing line within 60 minutes.

The 20 years old Jacob Kiplimo has strategically positioned himself on the list of race stressors for long runs after scooping various athletic awards at his tender age, including being the youngest Ugandan Olympian at the age of 15years. Kiplom in the just concluded 2021 Tokyo Olympics has scooped the bronze in the men’s 10,000m which were taken by the fellow countrymen Joshua Cheptegei.

At the age of 15, Kiplimo won the 10,000m bronze medal at the IAAF World U20 championship in Rome.  At the age of 16years, He scoped a golden medal in the men’s U20 race at the 2017 IAAF World Cross country championships in Kampala. At the IAAF World Cross Country Championship in Aarhus, Denmark, Kiplimo became second. Jacob Kiplimo won the 5000m races of September 2020 in Ostrava.

The young star from the Sebei land in Kapichorwa districts at the foothills of the Elgon Mountain has proved to break records at the Wikipedia browse. With a great number of unmentioned features where he displayed great challenges both locally and internationally.
